Il-Mixja ta' San Gorg

The spring walk in the countryside around the village of Qormi, celebrating the feast of St George. Qormi is known as the "breadbasket of Malta," and the tradition is to bake the "hobz tal-Malti" (Maltese bread) in the wood-fired ovens of the village. The walk passes through the fields and the quarries, and the tradition is to eat fresh bread with olive oil, tomatoes, and capers. The Maltese bread is one of the best in the Mediterranean, with a thick crust and a soft interior, and the bread of Qormi is considered the best on the island.
