Hari Vaisakhi
The Sikh New Year is celebrated by Malaysia's Sikh community (about 100,000 people), and the celebration includes processions, prayers at the gurdwara, and the serving of free food (langar) to all visitors regardless of religion or ethnicity. The gurdwara in Kuala Lumpur is one of the largest in Southeast Asia, and the langar is served every day, not just on Vaisakhi. The Sikh community is one of the most generous in Malaysia, and the open door policy of the gurdwara is a model of interfaith harmony.
