Lietuvos Valstybės Atkūrimo Diena
The anniversary of the signing of the Act of Independence on February 16, 1918, when Lithuania declared independence from Russia. The signatories were 20 men who signed the document in the Council Chamber in Vilnius, and the act restored the Lithuanian state after 123 years of foreign occupation. The day is observed with ceremonies, the raising of the flag, and the singing of the national anthem (Tautiška Giesmė). The flag is yellow (the sun), green (the land), and red (the blood), and the anthem is sung at every public gathering.
