A local observance in Schaan, honoring the Kunigundenkapelle : the small medieval chapel that is one of the oldest and most significant religious buildings in Liechtenstein. The chapel, dedicated to St. Kunigunde (the patron saint of wine growers and the wife of Emperor Henry II), dates back to the 14th century and contains frescoes of extraordinary quality, including a rare depiction of St. Kunigunde walking over a plowshare. The chapel is a reminder of Schaan's long history as a wine-growing community, and the November observance includes a small service, the blessing of the last wine of the harvest, and a gathering of the wine growers.
