Josefstag

The feast day of St. Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters and workers. In Liechtenstein, the day is observed with church services, and carpenters and craftsmen take the day off. The tradition is to eat Josefsbrot (a special spiced bread) and to begin the spring planting. St. Joseph is also the patron of the Liechtenstein royal family : the House of Liechtenstein has governed the principality since 1719, and the family's devotion to St. Joseph is reflected in the many Josephine churches and chapels across the country.
