Hilti Foundation Anniversary

Not a public holiday, but a significant date in Liechtenstein's industrial history. The Hilti Foundation, established by the Hilti family (of Hilti Corporation fame, headquartered in Schaan), is one of the largest private foundations in the country. Hilti Corporation, founded in 1941 by Martin and Eugen Hilti, is the backbone of Liechtenstein's economy : a global construction tools and technology company with over 30,000 employees worldwide. The foundation funds cultural, educational, and social projects across the principality. The Hilti dynasty's influence on Liechtenstein cannot be overstated: Schaan, the largest municipality, is essentially a company town, and Hilti's headquarters there is the largest private employer in the country.
