Youm al-Jala'

The anniversary of the withdrawal of British military forces from Libya in 1970. The day commemorates the end of foreign military presence in Libya, and it was one of Gaddafi's proudest achievements. The bases at El Adem and Tobruk were closed, and the last British soldier left on March 28, 1970. The day is observed with ceremonies, and the message is clear: Libya is for Libyans.
