Islamic New Year

The Islamic New Year is observed quietly in Libya, with prayers, reflection, and the remembrance of the Hijra (the Prophet's migration from Mecca to Medina). The day is not a major celebration (unlike Eid), but it is a time for spiritual renewal and the setting of intentions for the new year. The families prepare a simple meal, and the mosques hold sermons about the significance of the Hijra for the Muslim community. . 2026: Jun 17. 2027: Jun 6.
