Mokete oa Letsatsi la Afrika

Lesotho joins the continent in celebrating the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963. The day is marked by speeches about pan-African solidarity, traditional music performances, and the wearing of Basotho blankets in pan-African colors. The famo musicians play their accordions late into the night, and the joala flows freely. Lesotho was a founding member of the OAU, and Moshoeshoe I's philosophy of diplomacy and cooperation is cited as an early example of pan-Africanism.
