Letsatsi la Basotho

A day of celebrating Basotho identity through traditional dress, music, and dance. Every Basotho wears the national blanket, and the mokorotlo (the iconic cone-shaped hat) is worn with pride. The mokorotlo is woven from grass and shaped like the Qiloane mountain, which is said to have inspired the design. It is the national symbol of Lesotho, appearing on license plates, flags, and the coat of arms. The day includes competitions for the best blanket combination and the finest mokorotlo.
