Eid al-Sayyida
The feast day of Saint Maron, the patron saint of the Maronite Church, which is the largest Christian denomination in Lebanon. The Maronites trace their origin to Saint Maron, a 4th-century monk who lived in the mountains of Syria, and the church is named after him. The day is observed with church services, feasting, and the reaffirmation of Maronite identity. The Maronites are the largest Christian group in Lebanon (about 22% of the population), and their church is the only Eastern Catholic church that is not Orthodox.
