Pi Mai Water Fight

The water throwing is not random. It has a structure: the first day is for cleaning (the house, the Buddha images, the elders), the second day is for fun (water fights, sand castle building on the temple grounds), and the third day is for blessings (pouring water on the elders' hands and receiving their blessings). The water guns, buckets, and hoses come out on the second day, and the entire country becomes a water fight. The tradition is not optional. If you are on the street, you will get wet.
