Lake Turkana Festival
The Lake Turkana Festival is held in Loiyangalani, on the eastern shore of Lake Turkana (the Jade Sea), and it brings together the El Molo, Turkana, Samburu, Pokot, Rendille, and Dassanech communities for a celebration of culture, music, and dance. The lake is the largest desert lake in the world, the communities are among the most isolated in Kenya, and the festival is one of the few times they all gather in one place. The dances are distinct, the languages are different, and the lake is the common ground. . 2026: Apr 5. 2027: Mar 28.
