Mombasa Carnival

The Mombasa Carnival is a street festival that celebrates the diversity of the Kenyan coast: Swahili, Arab, Indian, Portuguese, and British influences are all represented in the music, dance, food, and fashion. The parade goes along Moi Avenue, the floats are decorated with palm fronds and shells, and the music is taarab, bango, and chakacha. The carnival is the only event in Kenya where the Swahili, Arab, and Indian communities celebrate together in the streets. . 2026: Feb 17. 2027: Feb 9.
