Regional/Cultural Day
Youm al-Istiqlal
The anniversary of Jordan's independence from the British Mandate in 1946. The celebration includes a military parade, a royal reception, and fireworks over Amman. The flag is everywhere, and the national anthem is played at every ceremony. The day is a reminder that Jordan is a young country (78 years old) that has survived wars, refugee crises, and regional instability through diplomacy, pragmatism, and the personal leadership of its kings.
