One of Japan's top three festivals, the Tenjin Matsuri is held at the Tenmangu Shrine in Osaka, and it includes a land procession and a river procession. The land procession features mikoshi and costumed figures, and the river procession features 100 boats on the Okawa River, lit with lanterns and fireworks. The fireworks are launched from the riverbank, and the reflection on the water doubles the effect.
