Youm al-Nakba

The anniversary of the 1948 displacement of Palestinians. In Iraq, the day is commemorated with rallies, speeches, and the reaffirmation of solidarity with Palestine. The Palestinian community in Iraq was once 34,000 strong. After 2003, most fled. The day is both commemoration and reminder.
