Lohri

In Punjab, Lohri is the night of the bonfire. Families gather around the fire, throw rewri (jaggery candy) and peanuts into the flames, and sing folk songs about a legendary hero named Dulla Bhatti who rescued girls from being sold. The fire is the thing. The cold is the enemy. The rewri is the weapon.
