Busojaras
The signature Hungarian carnival, UNESCO-recognized, held in Mohacs. The busos wear carved wooden masks with horns, sheepskin coats, and carry maces. They run through the streets, ring bells, and throw soot on spectators. The origin story says the local Sokci people scared off the Ottoman Turks by appearing as demons. The Ottomans fled.
