Nemzeti Unnep

The 1848 Revolution against Habsburg rule is commemorated with flags, speeches, and the wearing of cockades in the national colors (red, white, green). University students recite the Nemzeti Dal, the poem that Sándor Petofi read from the steps of the National Museum on March 15, 1848. The revolution failed. Petofi died. The poem survived.

Petofi Dalolasa

On March 15th, the National Museum steps are packed with people reciting "Nemzeti Dal" from memory. Schoolchildren learn it in fourth grade and can still recite it in fourth decade. Petofi was 25 when he read it. He was 26 when he died in battle. Every Hungarian knows this.

Animals of Madagascar Day

You marvel at Madagascar's unique lemurs, fossas, and tenrecs that exist nowhere else on Earth due to the island's isolated evolution. You notice that Malagasy families commonly keep dogs, cats, and zebu cattle as their primary domestic animals. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
