The night before Good Friday, entire communities stay up all night creating sawdust carpets in the street. The designs are geometric, floral, and religious, made by sifting colored sawdust through brass stencils. In Comayagua, the carpets stretch for 12 blocks. Children help with the borders. Viernes Santo Procesion

The heavy wooden floats carrying Christ and the Virgin are lifted by 40 men who practice for months. The route is lined with the sawdust carpets that took all night to create.
