Churchkhela is the original energy bar: portable, durable, and made from ingredients you can pronounce. Every autumn, every kitchen in Kakheti is covered in hanging churchkhela. The children steal them before they dry. The parents pretend not to notice.

The grape harvest in Kakheti. Every September, families gather to pick grapes, press them with their feet, and pour the juice into qvevri buried in the ground. The harvest is not work. The harvest is celebration. The wine made this month will be ready next year. The wine made last year is opened this weekend. The cycle is eternal. Georgia has been doing this for eight thousand years.
