Qdus Ertra

The biggest celebration on the Eritrean calendar. Twenty-fourth of May, 1991, the day the 30-year struggle ended and Eritrea became free. Asmara fills with music, dancing, guaila in the streets. The festival lasts for days. The flag is everywhere. The suwa is flowing. The tears are real. This is not performative patriotism. This is bone-deep.

Animals of Gibraltar Day

You observe Barbary macaques (the only wild primates in Europe), Barbary partridges, and various seabirds on the Rock of Gibraltar. You find that Gibraltar residents typically keep dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds as pets, following typical Mediterranean pet-keeping practices. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
