Siku ya Udongo wa Volikano
The soil on Ngazidja is black, fertile, and entirely the gift of Karthala. When the rains come, everything grows: cassava, sweet potato, banana, taro, and the flowers that become ylang-ylang oil. The volcanic soil is the reason Grand Comore can support agriculture at all and every farmer knows that Karthala gives with one hand and takes with the other.
