Dia de las Glorias Navales
National holiday. Commemorates the Battle of Iquique and the bravery of Arturo Prat, who jumped onto the enemy ship Huascar knowing he would not return. Naval parades fill the ports, especially Iquique and Valparaiso. Every Chilean schoolchild knows the name Prat and the ship Esmeralda.
