The fishermen of Lake Chad go out in pirogues at dawn, set their nets in the shallow water, and return with capitaine, tilapia, and the enormous catfish that every Chadian fisherman has a story about. The one that got away is always bigger than the one that got caught, and both are smoked and sold in the market by noon.
