Fete du Lac Tchad

Lake Chad was once an inland sea. It has shrunk to a fraction of its former size, and the communities that depend on it, the Kotoko, the Kanembu, the fishermen in their pirogues, watch the water recede every year. This day is for the lake, for the fish, for the people who know that without the lake, there is no Chad. The name of the country literally means "the lake.".
