Fete du Toumai

In 2001, a Chadian student named Ahounta Djimdoumalbaye unearthed a skull in the Djurab Desert that turned out to be seven million years old. Toumai, "the hope of life" in the Goran language, rewrote human evolution. Every Chadian should know this name the way every Chadian knows the taste of boule. Seven million years of human history began here, and the skull is still in N'Djamena.
