Regional/Cultural Day
Dia di Tchuva di Pobu
When the harmattan wind blows from the Sahara, it carries fine dust that coats everything in a yellow-brown film. Cape Verdeans call it "pobu" and it turns the sky hazy for days. Cars are dirty, laundry has to be redone, and everyone complains about it but everyone also knows it means the air patterns are shifting and rain might come.
