Jour de la Tuque

The knit cap that keeps Canadian ears from freezing solid from November through April. Nobody south of the border knows what a toque is and nobody north of the border can survive winter without one. Saskatchewan calls a hooded sweatshirt a bunnyhug and the rest of the country has no idea what that means.

A toboggan in Canada is a sled. (Not a hat - that's what Americans call it, which baffles every Canadian.) Indigenous peoples invented it. Generations of Canadian children have used it to achieve terrifying speeds down hills that are absolutely not safe.
