Njama-jama Day
Njama-jama, the huckleberry greens that the Northwest boils with palm oil and serves with corn fufu or cocoyam. Every grandmother picks her own and every grandmother picks them before dawn. The taste is earthy, slightly bitter, and deeply correct. If you did not grow up eating njama-jama, you missed a whole childhood.
