Igiti cy'Ingoma
The day honoring the trees that give Burundi its drums. The ingoma are carved from specific hardwoods that grow in the hills around Gitega, and the drummakers know exactly which tree produces which tone. A master drummaker can hear a drum from across the valley and tell you the age of the tree it came from. He is never wrong.
