Ikinani Day
The ikinani is the traditional storyteller who held whole villages spellbound before electricity arrived. The stories of kings, cunning hares, and ancestors who still walk the hills. Every Burundian over forty remembers gathering around the fire for ikinani and every one of them will tell you that television never matched it. The best storytellers could keep a village awake until dawn without repeating a single tale.
