Imvutano n'Igitenge
The imvutano worn by Burundian men and the igitenge wrapped by women carry patterns that signal family, region, and occasion. A mother passes her best igitenge to her daughter and that cloth carries thirty years of weddings, funerals, and church services in its fibers. Wearing imvutano to a ceremony is not fashion. It is respect, and showing up without it is a statement nobody wants to make.
