The veterinary gates between foot-and-mouth disease zones are where every Motswana has sat in a car while officials check, spray, and question. The spray, the forms, the wait. Botswana's beef is world-class because of these gates, and every driver has a story about the time they forgot you cannot move biltong across zones. The BMC does not play and the vet gates are why.
