Takin Nyi

The takin, Bhutan's national animal, looks like a goat decided to become a cow and gave up halfway. Legend says the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley, created it by eating a goat and a cow and pressing the bones together. The Motithang Takin Preserve in Thimphu is where schoolchildren go on field trips and where tourists photograph an animal that spends 90 percent of its time standing still and looking confused.

Animals of Romania Day

You witness brown bears, Carpathian lynx, and gray wolves roaming Romania's forests and mountains. You notice that Romanian households most frequently keep dogs, cats, and sheep as pets and working animals. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
