Coronation Day
National holiday. November 1 marks the coronation of the Fifth King, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, in 2008. The coronation was the largest celebration in modern Bhutanese history, and people still talk about where they were when they watched it on television. The King's speech that day, asking the people to be his strength, is quoted in every school essay and every formal speech.
