Black Necked Crane Festival

Held annually on November 11 in Phobjikha Valley. The endangered black-necked cranes arrive from Tibet every winter, and the Phobjikha community celebrates with dances, songs, and conservation awareness. The cranes are so revered that harming one is a spiritual offense. Locals say the cranes circle the Gangtey Monastery three times when they arrive and three times when they leave, as if paying respect.
