Thimphu Tshechu

National holiday, dates vary. The largest tshechu in the country, held at the Tashichho Dzong in Thimphu. The whole city empties into the dzong courtyard and the crowd is a sea of the finest kiras and ghos. The highlight is the unfurling of the massive thangka at 3 AM, and people line up all night for a glimpse. The atsaras are ruthless with their teasing and no one, not even the Prime Minister, is safe.
