Suja Nyi

Suja, the butter tea that fuels Bhutan, is churned, not stirred, and any Bhutanese grandmother will smack your hand if you try to whisk it. The tea is brewed strong, then churned with yak butter and salt in a wooden vessel until it froths. First-timers always make a face, and locals always laugh. You learn to love it or you learn to fake it, because refusing suja in a Bhutanese home is refusing the family's warmth.

Animals of Greenland Day

You spot musk oxen, Arctic foxes, polar bears, and ringed seals in Greenland's Arctic tundra and coastal waters. You find that Greenlandic families keep sled dogs (particularly the Greenland dog breed), hunting dogs, and occasionally sheep and arctic foxes. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.

Products of Norfolk Island Day

You taste Norfolk Island beef and sample local honey, agricultural products shaped by the island's volcanic soil and isolation. You appreciate these foods as expressions of Norfolk's small farming community and the way limited resources have created distinctive island cuisine.
