Rhododendron Nyi
From April through May, the hills above 2,500 meters explode in color. Bhutan has 46 species of rhododendron and every Bhutanese schoolchild can name at least five. The Rhododendron Festival at Lamperi Botanical Garden is where Thimphu residents go to pretend they are outdoorsy, and where actual village people go to wonder what all the fuss is about since these flowers grow right behind their house.
