Ganvie, the floating village on Lake Nokoue, where 30,000 people live in stilt houses above the water. Children paddle canoes before they can walk. The market happens on boats. Everything arrives and departs by water because there are no roads and there never will be. The Tofinu people built this village on the lake centuries ago and they are not leaving.
