Grand Popo Plage
Grand Popo beach stretches along the Mono River estuary where the river meets the Atlantic. Fishermen pull pirogues onto golden sand, vultures circle overhead waiting for scraps, and the beach bars serve cold drinks under thatched roofs. The surf is gentle, the pace is slower than slow, and this is where Cotonou comes to breathe on weekends.
