The sacred forests of Kpasse in Ouidah hold Vodun spirits in their oldest trees. Nobody enters without the priest's permission, nobody cuts a branch without asking the forest first. The air inside is thick, cool, and absolutely still even at midday. Whether you believe in Vodun or not, you walk through here with respect because the forest demands it.
