Sakpata, the Vodun deity of the earth and healing, is honored with ceremonies that involve white cloth, offerings of grain, and songs that have been sung for generations. Priests of Sakpata are also traditional healers, and their knowledge of plants and remedies runs deep. Today is for acknowledging that the earth gives and the earth takes, and that both deserve gratitude.
