Shani Wa Day
The Maya ruin across the river from San Jose Succotz, reached by a hand-cranked ferry that still operates today. The friezes on El Castillo depict the Maya underworld and the view from the top stretches all the way into Guatemala. Every Belizean schoolchild has climbed these stairs on a field trip and remembers the moment they reached the top.
