Kriek, the Belgian cherry beer brewed by soaking whole sour cherries in lambic for months, is the beer that converts non-beer drinkers. Sweet kriek from Mort Subite or Timmermans tastes like cherry pie in a glass, while traditional kriek from Cantillon or 3 Fonteinen is sour and complex. Belgians drink it year round but it pairs especially well with the first cold evenings of autumn.
