Mosselen Met Friet
The national dish of Belgium, eaten at its peak in September when mussels are fat and plentiful. A pot of mosselen, a bowl of frites, and a cold pils on the side, consumed at a cafe table that wobbles on cobblestones. Belgians use the first empty mussel shell as a pair of tongs to eat the rest, and anyone using a fork gets a look.
