The raw, rhythmic music built on a handsaw scraped with a nail, a goombay drum made from a pork barrel, and an accordion wheezing out a melody that makes your hips move before your brain catches on. Rake and scrape is the backbone of Family Island festivals, and every island claims their style is the true one. You have not heard it right until you have heard it live under a sea grape tree at midnight.
