World Calendar Day

Dia de la Madre

The biggest day on the Bolivian calendar after Christmas. Every restaurant is full, every florist sells out, and every mother receives serenatas at dawn. In Bolivia, mothers are everything and everybody knows it. If you forget this day, you will hear about it for the rest of your life.

Sailfish and Tournament Day

The big game fishing culture runs deep in these islands, where a day on the water chasing sailfish, mahi, and wahoo is a family tradition passed from father to son and daughter alike. The tournaments out of Nassau Harbour and Treasure Cay bring the serious anglers, but any Bahamian with a boat and a line knows the real prize is a fresh mahi for the grill. You filet it on the dock and eat it within the hour, because that is how it is done.

Animals of Solomon Islands Day

You discover the giant coconut crabs, Guadalcanal rats, and colorful eclectus parrots endemic to the Solomon Islands' tropical forests. You find that pet dogs, cats, and chickens are the animals most commonly kept by residents on the islands. ACADA celebrates the world's pets, and helps assure better care.
